Welcoming Simon Bolton as our new Chief Executive Officer

A proud Brisbane local, Simon is a family man with three children and two Jack Russell dogs at home, and values being part of the community.

He spends much of his spare time outdoors, whether that’s mountain biking, getting out on the water, or heading up the coast.

Simon has spent his career across financial services, the not-for-profit sector, and more recently in hands-on patient support. He has worked directly with patients at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and contributed to organisations like Youngcare, giving him a practical understanding of what care looks like day to day.

“I want families to know that your loved one’s care and support is the most important thing in my role.” he said.

His focus is simple. Making sure the support people receive is right for them, while continuing to look for ways to do things better.

That includes working closely with families and guardians, recognising the role they play, and keeping communication clear and straightforward.

Simon’s approach is also focused on supporting the people who deliver care every day.

“My focus early on is to listen and learn. To understand what people need, and how we can continue to support both the families we work with and the teams delivering that care.”

Quality care comes from teams who are supported, listened to, and given the time and space to do their work well.

DCR has supported individuals and families across South East Queensland for more than two decades. That experience has been built on long-term relationships and a strong understanding of individual needs.

Simon’s role is to step into that and continue to support what already works, while staying open to improving how DCR supports the people and families who rely on it.
