Community Programs

DCR’s Community Program was established to enrich the lives of our participants and provide meaningful connections, activities and opportunities. This program allows participants to access a series of ongoing activities and gatherings, crafted with the assistance of a participant-led advisory panel, hosted across a series of hubs throughout South East Queensland.

A weekly activity guide is created for support workers as a means to engage participants in a substantial suite of activities happening in their local area and beyond. The guide highlights activities across a range of areas, catering for different accessibility needs, interests and capacities. The focus of these activities are social, creative, movement and connection to nature and culture, including Indigenous programming included to connect or reconnect participants with the rich heritage of this country’s First Nations people.

We support people to live independently within the community through supported accommodation or their own property.

Client-lead activities

Some favourite client-lead activities include: crafting sessions (custom colouring in, jewellery, face painting, beading, painting, temporary tattoos, card making), birthday celebrations, picnics, museum tours, gallery visits, op shop hops, cafe catch ups, art parties, baking sessions, outdoor activities and much more!

DCR provides regular opportunities for connection, socialisation and skill building through weekly activity groups in a variety of locations around South East Queensland.

Weekly Activity Guide

A weekly activity guide is circulated which highlights activities across a range of areas, catering for different accessibility needs, interests and capacities.

I am writing to thank you for providing me with such a wonderful list of community activities!! I find your weekly email particularly useful to start conversations with participants who are interested in exploring options within the local area and beyond!!
